Getting across and making the first run north
The trip started at Mount Gravatt with the drive north towards K’gari, including a stop at Big Matilda near Kybong before continuing to Inskip / Hook Point for the crossing. From there, the route moved into beach-driving mode and followed the island up to Eurong and K’gari Beach Resort.
After getting settled at the resort, there was still enough afternoon left to head back out. The second GPX file shows the beach run north from Eurong towards Eli Creek and the Maheno Shipwreck, then the return to the resort before the first night on the island.
This page is based only on the Day 1 photos and GPX files supplied so far. The rest of the trip will be added as the material comes through.
Route privacy
The original arrival GPX included a private detour. That detour has been removed from the public map, while the visible route still starts from Mount Gravatt and continues through to K’gari.
