A birthday celebration on the bike
The Sunday Chapter Ride became the perfect excuse for a birthday celebration, so a full day out on the Road King Special with the Gasoline Alley H.O.G. Chapter was a pretty natural way to mark it.
We rolled out from Ampol Yatala at about 8:30 am and headed into the Scenic Rim. The recorded route took us to Oaky Creek Farm & Harvest Cafe, where we arrived just before 10:00 am. It was a relaxed morning-tea stop with the usual chapter catch-up before we got moving again a little after 11:00 am.
The next leg carried us across to Harrisville, arriving at the Royal Hotel at about 12:40 pm. Lunch gave everyone a decent break off the bikes, and the old rail carriages and the line-up of motorcycles made a good backdrop for the chapter group photos before we left around 2:20 pm.
Pricey and Hambo looked after the back of the group as TECs for the day. From Harrisville, the final run brought us through to Flagstone Central Shopping Centre, where the recorded ride finished at about 3:17 pm.
All up, the GPX recorded 274.3 kilometres. It was not about turning the birthday celebration into anything complicated - just a solid day riding with the Chapter, a couple of good stops and the Road King doing what it is there for.
