A long-awaited redemption run
After having my planned January ride rained out twice and eventually cancelled, the Rosewood Double Shot felt a little like a redemption run. This time the weather was on our side, with a clear and sunny winter morning for the ride out to Harry's Place Café in Rosewood.
We had 32 riders and pillions attend, including my daughter Zoe riding pillion with me on the Road King Special. Zoe has been riding with me since she was eight, so having her along for the day was familiar territory and a good way to share the ride.
Noel again took on the Road Captain role, with Tackles and Anthony looking after the back of the group as Tail End Charlies. We left Gasoline Alley Harley-Davidson at 8:30 am and followed the planned outbound route through to Rosewood, arriving at Harry's at around 10:00 am.
Morning tea gave everyone time to grab a coffee, something to eat and settle in for the usual chapter catch-up. With 32 people along, Harry's was well occupied once everyone had found a table.
The return leg brought us back to Gasoline Alley at around 12:30 pm. There were no dramas, wrong turns or unexpected issues—the ride went exactly as planned.
After the disappointment of losing the January ride to the weather, it was satisfying to finally lead one from start to finish. By this stage I felt experienced and confident in the role, and a smooth day with a solid turnout was a good way to put the earlier cancellations behind me.
