Boonah Double Shot

The May 2024 Double Shot Ride was my first time leading a Gasoline Alley Chapter ride. The shorter Saturday format took 31 people from Springwood to Boonah for morning tea before completing the loop back through the Scenic Rim.

My first ride as Ride Captain

The May 2024 Double Shot Ride was a significant one for me personally, as it was my first time leading a Gasoline Alley Chapter ride as Ride Captain.

Double Shot is the name the chapter uses for its shorter-format Saturday rides. We left Gasoline Alley Harley-Davidson at Springwood at 8:30 am, with 31 people taking part and me leading the group on my Road King Special.

The first leg headed west through the Ipswich and Peak Crossing side of the Scenic Rim before reaching Flavours Café in Boonah at around 10:00 am. The café was our morning-tea destination and the main stop for the day.

I was a little nervous before the ride got underway, but the nerves settled once everyone was moving and the ride found its rhythm. Road Captain Noel supported the ride, with Pricey and Greg serving as the Tail End Charlies at the rear of the group.

After morning tea, we continued east toward Beaudesert and north through the Jimboomba side before returning to Gasoline Alley around midday.

The weather was great, the turnout was strong and everything ran smoothly. For one of the chapter's shorter Saturday rides, it marked a pretty big milestone for me and was a great way to complete my first chapter ride as Ride Captain.
