The unexpected highlight of the day
Zoe and I travelled to the Sunshine Coast for Strummingbird Festival at Kawana Sports Precinct. We caught the shuttle from Sunshine Coast Turf Club, which worked well and made getting in and out of the festival straightforward.
We watched every performer on the main stage. Jelly Roll was one of the main reasons we bought tickets and absolutely lived up to expectations. Shaboozey was the other major drawcard, although his set did not land for me quite as strongly as I had hoped.
The real discovery was Treaty Oak Revival. Their songs, energy, live sound and stage presence stood out straight away, and I came away a huge fan. Judging by how often Zoe listens to them now, they may have been her favourite discovery from the festival as well.
The weather was great, even if it became a little hot during the day. We also came home with a fair collection of festival gear: I bought a Strummingbird shirt, Zoe and I each picked up a hat from Country Trucker Caps, and Zoe bought a leather belt. She also got a photo with Knuckles from Country Trucker Caps.
There were no real problems with the day, and the best indication of how much we enjoyed it is that we already have tickets to return for Strummingbird in 2026.
